Judge blocks union election at American Airlines

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) ? A federal judge is blocking a union-organizing election for nearly 10,000 employees at American Airlines. Judge Terry R. Means ruled Friday that the Communications Workers of America needed to get support cards from 50 percent of the eligible workers to qualify for an election. The union had argued it needed 35 percent, the standard until Congress changed the rules in February.
