Tips for Knitting in the Round

I enjoy this type of knitting simply because I am able to eliminate much of the final assembling of my home knitted garment. To demonstrate my point, think of socks - socks are neatly shaped to fit toe and heel, instep and leg - these are knitted in the round, as are gloves. I think round knitting is the answer to home knitting sweaters and skirts (no seams).
